History of Madiun Regency

       Madiun Regency, based on a legitimate government, was established on the first half of the month, in Muharam, in 1568 precisely on Thursday, 18 July 1568. It began during the Demak Sultanate, which was marked by the marriage of Prince Pangeran Surya Patiunus from Demak to Raden Ayu Retno Lembah daughter of the Duke Adipati Gugur from Ngurawan, Dolopo.        The government center was moved from Ngurawan to Sogaten village with a new name “Purabaya” (known as Madiun now). Pangeran Surya Patiunus occupied the sultanate until 1521 and was continued by Kyai Rekso Gati. (Sogaten = place of Rekso Gati).

       Pangeran Timur was appointed as the Regent of Purabaya on July 18, 1568 with a government center in the village of Sogaten. Since then the formal juridical Purabaya Regency had become a government area under a regent and ended the oversight government in Purabaya held by Kyai Rekso Gati in the name of Demak from 1518 – 1568. read more

She also had many servants working for her. Nyai Bagendit was also known for her bad attitude. However, she did not like to help others Whenever the villagers needed some money, they borrowed the money from her. However, when they returned it, the villagers had to pay double. If they were not able to return the debt, Nyai Bagedit would ask her servants to take the villagers belongings. Nyai Bagendit also hated beggars. She thought that beggars were lazy people.       The Green Village Gedangsari is located in Guyangan Lor sub village, Mertelu village, Gedangsari district, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta. It is the border area between Gunung Kidul and Klaten Regencies. Exactly, it is located among three villages, i.e. Watugajah, Tegalrejo and Mertelu. Alternatively, you can search this coordinate, -7.812778, 110.615556.

      You can go to the Green Village Gedangsari by using private or public vehicle. If you want togo to Green Village Gedangsari, there are several routes that you can take to get to this tourist village. At least, there are four routes that you can take based on where you start the trip.

      If you go from Yogyakarta, you need to take Yogyakarta – Wonosari Road until you find Sambipitu police office. Turn left to Gedangsari. Find Sambipitu T-junction and stop at Gedangsari police office. Then, take the route to Mangli when you are in Clongop T-junction. Go ahead until you are in Banyu village.         Abunawas who lived in the village in the area of Harun’s kingdom often got prize from the king because of his smartness. However, for these weeks he did not have money. He needed money to buy food. So, he tried to find much money by going to another village to find work. He had gone some places, knocking at every door. But still no­body wanted to hire him.         Because of exhaustion, he was soon asleep. Suddenly two strong hands grabbed his arms and a strong voice said, “Hey get up a lazy man!” the two strong hands pulled Abunawas to wake him up. “You must help us in our farm,” said another voice. Before Abu could say a word, the two strong men had already dragged Abunawas off to their farm.

       They walked for some time before arrived in a large farm. They brought Abu to a big strong man with an earring at one of his ear (the big strong man seemed to be the owner of the farm). “You’ll work here until noon tomorrow. We’ll give you a little food and drink. If you work slowly or lazily, we’ll give you a whip on your back.”  read more
