       Simpang Lima Gumul Monument in Kediri is like the Arc de Triomphe located in Paris, France. The difference, if the Arc de Triomphe commemorates the warriors who died during the French revolution and the Napoleonic wars, while the Simpang Lima Gumul Monument is inspired by King Jongko Joyoboyo.

       King Jongko Joyoboyo was the ruling king in the 12th century who aspired to unite the five regions in the Kediri district, namely the City of Kediri, Pesantren, Pagu, Gurah, and Kampung Inggris (Pare).

       Simpang Lima Gumul Monument began to be built in 2003 and inaugurated in 2008, initiated by the Kediri Regent, Sutrisno.
