Definition of Proper Nouns

As we know that a noun is a part of speech that identifies a person, place, thing, or idea. It means that all nouns serve to name a person, place, or thing.

After knowing the definition of nouns, we now should know definition of Proper Nouns.

A proper noun is a word or group of words (such as “Noah Webster,” “Kentucky,” or “U.S. Congress”) that is the name of a particular person, place, organization or thing and that usually begins with a capital letter. Pay attention that Proper nouns begin with a capital letter. Examples are ‘Margaret’, ‘London’, and ‘the United Nations’. Compare common noun.
