      The history of Jagatnatha temple began in 1967 when Banguntapan was visited by many Hindu Dharma people. Because of the development of the Hindu people; they formed the Hindu Dharma People Assembly in Banguntapan, Bantul. In 1975 they began to build the Jagatnatha Temple and were succeed to build a worship place and padmasana (a place for the offerings) during that time. From 1976 to 1982 they developed the construction by starting to build Kori building, the left and right fences, Bentar temple and Penyengker wall.
