Bajangratu Indonesian Heritage Temple

Bajangratu Indonesian Heritage Temple

Bajangratu Indonesian Heritage Temple

When we want to go to Mojokerto regency for finding temples, there are some temples can be found in this regency. One of them is Bajangratu Indonesian Heritage Temple. This temple is located in Kraton sub-village, Temon Village, Trowulan Subdistrict, Mojokerto Regency. It is about 3.5 kilometers away from Wringinlawang Temple and about 600 meters away from Tikus Temple.

Bajangratu Indonesian Heritage Temple hides many secrets, as most of information revealing when the temple was erected, the king who instructed its construction and its functions remains unknown. The name Bajangratu was first mentioned in Oudheidkunding Verslag (OV) in 1915.

Sri Soeyatmi Satari, an archeologist, claims that the name of Bajangratu is closely connected to Jayanegara, the king of Majapahit, since the word ‘bajang’ means a dwarf. According to Kitab (book) Pararaton and folklores, Jayanegara was enthroned at a tender age, when he was still a tiny young boy. The nickname Dwarf King or Bajangratu, however, stuck with him as he grew older. (Also read : Mangunan Batik Tourism Village) read more

    Difference Between Home and House

When we study about English, we sometimes find a word “home” and “house”, and when we check both of those words in dictionary, we find the same meaning in Indonesian. A home is a place where someone lives.

Normally it is a house but it can be other things too: a narrowboat (a boat on a canal which someone lives in), a caravan (a house which is similar to a van or truck, which can be driven around) or an apartment (a kitchen, living room, dining room and bedroom(s)  in a building that has other apartments in it). Home is often associated with a family and/or the place you feel attached to.

    Examples:

    • Alice wasn’t feeling too well and she wanted to go home…
    • His father has worked away from home for first five years.
    • I am homeless. I have no home to go to.

A house is a building where the majority of people live.

It normally has bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and a dining room. (Also read other article at : Semboyan Negara di Asia Tenggara) read more

    The Legend of Banyuwangi

    The Legend of Banyuwangi

The Legend of Banyuwangi. Hi my beloved visitor! Have you ever gone to Banyuwangi ? It is located at the eastern-most end of the Indonesian island of Java and it is a very strategic area for those who want to go to Bali, as it serves as an important ferry port between Java and Bali. It is surrounded by mountains and forests to the west; by sea to the east and south. Banyuwangi is only separated by Strait of Bali from Bali. The name of Banyuwangi is Javanese for “fragrance water”, connected to the Javanese folklore of Sri Tanjung.

How is the story of Banyuwangi or “fragrance water” can be read from the following story.

A long time ago, the island of java was ruled by a king. The King had a Loyal Prime Minister whose name was Sidapaksa. He had a beautiful wife. Her name was Sri Tanjung. He loved her very much although she was from a village. However, his mother did not like her. Sidapaksa’s mother did not agree with his son’s lover. Apparently, his mother hated her because Sri Tanjung was not an aristocrat. It is a very important status in her society. But Sidapaksa did not care about his future wife status and married her. A couple months after the marriage, Sri Tanjung got pregnant. They were very happy waiting for the child birth. read more
