       Before discussing how Indonesia got its name, long before independence, many countries in the world called Indonesia in different names.

       The Chinese people, for example, they refered to Indonesia as Nan-hai, which means the South Sea islands.             Pindul Cave is located in Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta. It is exactly located in Gelaran, Bejiharjo village, Sub-district of Karangmojo, Gunung Kidul regency, Yogyakarta province. The distance of Pindul Cave is about 50 km to east from downtown of Yogyakarta or about 7 km from Wonosari city. By car, it’s only 1.5 hours from the city of Yogyakarta, with good road condition and beautiful scenery. Surrounded by mountains, Gunung Kidul has several rivers flowing through caves, one of the caves is Pindul Cave.

            The cave’s beauty has attracted visitors to visit it, and for the past of some years Pindul cave has been very popular, especially for domestic tourists.           As we know there are many mountains in Indonesia as our destination for recreation, and some are still active mountains. One of them is Mount Semeru. It is the highest mountain on the island of Java. The stratovolcano is also known as Mahameru (meaning “The Great Mountain”). The name derived from the Hindu-Buddhist mythical mountain of Meru or Sumeru, the abode of gods. Since 1818, at least 55 eruptions have been recorded (10 of which resulted in fatalities). The volcano belches out a huge cloud of steam and smoke every 20 minutes or so and sometimes interspersed with ash and stones.

          Mount Semeru is located between the regencies of Malang and Lumajang with geographical position of 8 06′ South Latitude and 12 55′ East Longitude. Mount Semeru is the highest mountain in java. The peak of Mount Semeru is 3,676 m above sea level. There are craters on top of Mount Semeru called “jonggring saloko”. Mahameru is a tourist attraction that is quite challenging for the hikers. Not only challenging, Mount Semeru has beautiful scenery and amazing scenery. read more
