This is because of the fighting in this city on 10 November 1945 in which the battle of the people of Surabaya tore down the Dutch flag and killed the leader of the Dutch who named General Mallaby. This battle became part of the history of the founding of the Indonesian nation. To commemorate the braveness of the people of Surabaya to regain Independence in November 1945, it was built a monument. The name of monument was Surabaya Heroes Monument.         Surabaya Heroes Monument is located in the center of Surabaya city. It is exactly located on Pahlawan Street, in front of the office of Governor of East Java.
