      For entering The museum is, it is free of entrance charge, but the visitors must write in the guest book.  Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum is open from Monday – Saturday at 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

      Dewantara Museum is a media which tells the life of Ki Hajar Dewantara, by other means, this museum tells his biography neither in the form of books nor sentences on papers but in the form of photos and stuffs displayed in the museum. In this museum, you will see Ki Hajar Dewantara’s books collection in a wooden drawer. You will also find his phenomenal books, like a book entitled “Aik Ik eens Nederlander was” which means I wish I was a Dutch and “Een Voor Allen maar Ook Allen Voor een” which means One for All, All for One. There is also a work which contain of Javanese Gamelan gamut, and also stationery which is used by Ki Hajar Dewantara, such as, his desk and chair. The museum is purposed to make you aware and understand about education, to give honor to Ki Hajar Dewantara struggle especially in education and to be the reflection of our education today. History of Ki Hajar Dewantara

      Ki Hajar Dewantara was born as a descendant of a king and he has the royal title called Raden Mas. His birth name was Soewardi Soerjaningrat. He changed his name into Ki Hajar Dewantara since he descended his royal title. Ki Hajar Dewantara was a scholar alumna from one of University in Dutch and he was the initiator of one association whose members are; Dr. Douwes Dekker, Dr. Tjipto mangoenkoesoemo. This association was initiated as a media movement against Hindia-Netherland in politics and education sector. Now, his name is always commemorated on 2ndMay which has beed determined as the National Education Day. This date was taken in order to give honor to Ki Hajar Dewantara for what he had done.
