      The history of Jagatnatha temple began in 1967 when Banguntapan was visited by many Hindu Dharma people. Because of the development of the Hindu people; they formed the Hindu Dharma People Assembly in Banguntapan, Bantul. In 1975 they began to build the Jagatnatha Temple and were succeed to build a worship place and padmasana (a place for the offerings) during that time. From 1976 to 1982 they developed the construction by starting to build Kori building, the left and right fences, Bentar temple and Penyengker wall.       The location of Jagatnatha temple is in Pura Street number 370, Plumbon village, Banguntapan sub district, Bantul regency, Yogyakarta Province.

      There are two ways If we want to Jagatnatha temple Hindus praying place, we can go there by public transport and by private vehicles.

      If we want to go there by public transport, we can take Trans Jogja line 1A or 1B and get off at JEC (Jogja Expo Center) shelter. And then we continue by walking or taking ojek (motorcycle cab). The route is heading north entering the residential area by passing through the asphalt road next to “Gudeg Bu Tjitro” stall. Then we must turn left until we find an intersection and turn right at the intersection. Keep going north and we will find the temple on the right side of the road.       When we go there by using private vehicles: we can depart from Yogyakarta City Hall, head to north passing through Timoho Street. After the first traffic light, we will find a small crossroad. Turn right or head eastward. Keep going for about 1.5 km until we arrive at an intersection heading to JEC. Turn left and go northward. The temple is on the right side of the road.

      Jagatnatha temple has become the favorite destination for religion tour in Yogyakarta. The temple has been made as the main destination for praying. When they pray, they pray in an open space without any mat or pad. They want to unify with the nature when they pray.
