Generic Structure of Explanation Text

 As we know there are many kinds of text in English, and I have share some of them. For this occasion, I want to share again about kinds of text and in this case I want to share about explanation text. In this post I will share about the definition, generic structure, language feature, and example of explanation text.  Let’s go to the topic. (Also read : Generic Structure of Narrative Text)

  1. Definition and purpose of Explanation

 Explanation is a text which tells processes relating to forming of natural, social, scientific and cultural phenomena. Explanation text is to say ‘why’ and ‘how’ of the forming of the phenomena. It is often found in science, geography and history text books.

  1. Generic structure of Explanation
  • General statement; stating the phenomenon issues which are to be explained.
  • Sequenced explanation; stating a series of steps which explain the phenomena.
  • (Closing); atually this is not mentioned in explanation text, however, many people think that the last of paragraph is clossing, in which it is actually  part of sequenced explanation
  1. Language Feature
  • Featuring generic participant; sun, rain, etc.
  • Using chronological connection; to begin with, next, etc.
  • Using passive voice pattern
  • Using simple present tense
  1. Example and structure of the text

Making Paper from Woodchips

A general statementWood-chipping is a process used to obtain pulp and paper products from forest trees.
A sequencedThe wood-chipping process begins when the trees are cut down in a selected area of the forest called a coupe.
explanation ofNext the tops and branches of the trees are cut out and then the logs are taken to the mill.
why or how something occursAt the mill the bark of the logs is removed and the logs are taken to a chipper which cuts them into small pieces called woodchips.
The woodchips are then screened to remove dirt and other impurities. At this stage they are either exported in this form or changed into pulp by chemicals and heat.
 The pulp is then bleached and the water content is removed.
ClosingFinally the pulp is rolled out to make paper.

Other Example of Explanation Text

 What is photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is a food-making process that occurs in green plants. It is the chief function of leaves. The word photosynthesis means putting together with light. Green plants use energy from light to combine carbon dioxide and water to make sugar and other chemical compounds. Nasehat Kematian bagi Jiwa yang Hidup

Nasehat Kematian

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Definition and Kinds of Pronoun

Kinds of Pronoun

  Definition and Kinds of Pronoun. Hello my dearest visitors, have a nice meeting again.

 In the previous post I have shared about Nouns and their classification. Have you read it? I hope so. In this occasion I will share the topic related to Nouns. It’s about Pronoun. Then let’s start for understanding about Pronoun.

 Generally (but not always) pronouns stand for (pro + noun) or refer to a noun, an individual or individuals or thing or things (the pronoun’s antecedent) whose identity is made clear earlier in the text.

For instance,

The students of Junior High School prepare for test. They have study hard every day.

They here is a pronoun referring to the students of Junior High School.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

Not all pronouns will refer to an antecedent, however.

Everyone here like to watch film.

The word “everyone” has no antecedent.

Kinds of Pronouns:

  1. Personal
  2. Demonstrative
  3. Indefinite
  4. Relative
  5. Reflexive
  6. Intensive
  7. Interrogative
  8. Reciprocal

This kinds of Pronouns can be made a table as,

Each other

One another

Kinds of Pronouns:

  1. Personal Pronouns

 Personal pronouns are pronouns that are associated primarily with a particular grammatical person – first person (as I), second person (as you), or third person (as he, she, it). Personal pronouns may also take different forms depending on number (usually singular or plural), grammatical or natural gender, case, and formality. The term “personal” is used here purely to signify the grammatical sense; personal pronouns are not limited to people and can also refer to animals and objects (as the English personal pronoun it usually does). read more

The Story of Cindelaras

 Long time ago in the island of Java there was a kingdom named Jenggala Kingdom. The kingdom led by Raden Putra. He had a beautiful and kind consort. He also had a beautiful concubine. Contrary to the queen, the concubine had bad personalities. She was jealous with the consort, so she planned to make the consort leave the palace. By doing so, she could be the new consort. (Also read : CARA MENENANGKAN HATI MENURUT ISLAM)

 The concubine asked the palace physician to help her do her bad plan. The physician agreed to help her. They was implementing the plan they had.

 The concubine of the king pretended to severe pain. The palace physician immediately was called by the King. After checking the concubine, the physician said that there was someone who had put poison in princess’ drink.

 “I am so sorry Your Majesty, there is none who are able to put the poison, except the consort.” said the physician. The king became angry to hear the explanation of the palace physician. Without thinking deeply and without checking this information, he immediately ordered his soldiers to bring the queen to the jungle and kill her.  Soon the soldiers took her to the jungle.  But when they were there the soldiers took a pity on her.  They did not want to kill her because she was a kind and wise consort and at that time she was pregnant.  So they built a house and let the consort live there.  Then they brought back to palace a deer’s heart to show the king that they had killed her. When my eyes opened in the dark morning,

They showed me the greatness of God creatures;

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

And what I should do after lying on my bed?

What would be some of the secrets of success in my life?

I found the answers right there inside my room.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

My bed said: wake up please.

Pillow said; move me out from the head

As I woke and slide my hand

The Blanket said; Fold me please

Hurriedly I folded the blanket

Fan said; be cool and

Roof said; be high aim

I turn off the fan and look at the roof

Then I peep through the window

Window said; See the World

Wall Clock said; every minute is precious

So I looked at my calendar

Calendar said; be up to Date

I hurried to go to the bathroom

The bath door said; Push hard for your Goals

After bathing I looked at my mirror

The Mirror said; Reflect before you Act

When I watch my body

My body said; bring me better

Directly I thought of my soul

My soul said; don’t let me get more Sins

So my visitor, how do you reflect before acting in your new live?

 How do you begin your day? read more
