        One more recreation destination place in Lumajang that I will share to my beloved readers. It is Ranu Kumbolo Lake. This lake is one of exotic recreation place should be visited when we go for refreshing around Bromo Mountain. (also read : The Beautiful of Mount Bromo)

        Ranu Kumbolo Lake is located in Ranu Pani village, Sub-District of Senduro, Lumajang Regency, East Java Province. It is one of three lakes in Ranu Pani village, they are Ranu Kumbolo, Ranu Pani and Ranu Regulo lake. Those lakes are parts of Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park.

        Ranu Kumbolo lake is a beautiful lake that has spectacular views and the exotic lake on Mount Semeru, East Java, Indonesia. It is on the slopes of Mount Semeru. Ranu Kumbolo is a lake with an altitude of 2400 meters above sea level. This lake looks like a bowl which holds the water from the hills that surround it. The temperature in the lake is very cold, close to zero degrees Celsius. When the morning came, it appears the water vapors will be created on the surface. With the background of the sun coming out from the middle of two adjacent hills.

        Ranu Kumbolo is usually visited by trekkers on the way from Ranu Pani to summit of Mount Semeru. Its great setting, comfortable climate and clean water provide perfect condition for camping and enjoying nature of the lake. To access Ranu Kumbolo you can take the way from Lumajang, Tumpang or Bromo Massive to village of Ranu Pani. From the village you should walk about 2,5 hours by footpath to Ranu Kumbolo. When you reach on the waterside Ranu Kumbolo, you can find small wooden shelter and a lot of space for tents. Warm clothes and good sleeping bag are recommended. Best time to visit Tengger Massive is from April to November while July and August is high season when many domestic tourist are climbing Mount Semeru and camping by lake.

        When you have already arrived at Ranu Kumbolo, you will feel fresh and charm because of beauty view. The blend of evergreen trees, shrubs, blue sky becomes a reflection of its own and offers a calm and peace in the area. The beautiful Ranu Kumbolo as a refreshing oasis, natural blend of fresh green and lake views, is guaranteed to remove any kind of sense of fatigue, and splendid cool atmosphere, airy conditions. Ranu Kumbolo Lake truly deserves to be a perfect place for relaxation, especially the weather at night the temperature reaches zero degrees Celsius.

        Ranu which means lake and Kumbolo means gather, so Ranu Kumbolo is the lake for a place to gather. This can be seen that in Ranu Kumbolo used as a gathering place for hikers to rest or spend the night before continuing the climb to the summit of Mount Semeru or Mahameru. There are interesting in this area. In front of the kumbolo lake, there is a 45-degree ramp, and it has a nickname “Rise of Love”. It takes extra energy to get through this hill without stopping especially while lifting heavy burden we carry, when you reach the end of the ascent of love we feel the tiredness disappear because the silent beauty of Ranu Kumbolo fog shrouded in the distance will spoil up your spirit.

        On the next trip after the rise of love ramp, you will be spoiled by green savanna with 100 ha size called as Oro-oro Ombo , with slope overgrown by pine trees, surrounded by hills and mountain with an amazing scenery. Behind Gunung Kepolo, the spouting smoke and summit of Mount Semeru is visible. For those who like to travel a challenging tour, panoramic sights (Lake) Ranu Kumbolo is one of the outstanding option. You should also bring thick clothes and supplies adequate food supplies because the air temperature is very cold there.
