        Kinds of Question Word. We will not be separated in using statement or question when we make interaction during communication.

     To ask certain types of questions, we usually use question words. We often refer to them as WH words because they include the letters WH (for example WHy, WHat, WHen, HoW, etc.).

The following explanations are about Question Words

Based Question Words

This function is for asking for information about something.

Examples:

What is in your bag?

What is your name?

This is also for asking for repetition or confirmation

Example:

What? I can’t hear your voice. You did what?

The other function is for asking about activity.

Example:

What is she doing in your house?

This function is for asking for information about place.

Examples:

Where do you study?

Where did she go last night?

  1. Who

This function is for asking for information about person or people (subject).

Examples:

Who knocked the door?

Who kicked the ball?

This function is for asking about time.

Examples:

When will you go?

When did she come?

This function is for asking for reason, asking what…for.

Examples:

Why are you angry?

Why do you go home?

This function is for asking about choice.

Examples:

Which one do you like?

Which book does he choose?

This function is for asking about manner.

Examples:

How does the computer work?

This function is also for asking about condition or quality.

Examples:

  1. Whatfor

This function is for asking for a reason, asking why.

Example:

What do you buy this book for?

This function is asking for information about person or people (object).

Example:

Whom did you give this book?

This function is for asking about posession or ownership.

Example:

Whose pen is it?

This function is for making a suggestion.

Example:

This function is for Asking about distance.

This function is for asking about length (time or space).

Example:
