        Bahasa Jawa Lebih Ringkas dari Bahasa Inggris. Sering kami dimintai bantuan teman untuk menterjemahkan suatu teks berbahasa Inggris ke Bahasa Indonesia, dan hasilnya biasanya bahasa Indonesia lebih panjang daripada bahasa Inggris. Kalau anda kurang yakin cobalah cari teks Bahasa Indonesia, lalu terjemahkan ke Bahasa Inggris, maka Bahasa Inggrisnya akan lebih ringkas.
    Itulah sebanya mengapa buku-buku berbahasa Indonesia hasil terjemahan biasanya lebih tebal dari buku-buku aslinya yang berbahasa Inggris.
        Tapi tahukah anda bahwa ternyata bahasa Jawa lebih ringkas lagi dari pada Bahasa Inggris? Ya, bahasa Jawa bahkan lebih ringkas (simple) daripada bahasa Inggris.

Dibawah ini hanyalah sebagian bukti bahwa bahasa Jawa lebih ringkas daripada bahasa Inggris:

  • Going without notice/permission = mlethas
  • Walking without using anything = nyeker
  • Taking the longer way to get to the destination = ngalang
  • Riding an old bicycle = ngonthel
  • Falling/ tripping forward (and may hit own face) = kejlungup
  • Side effect after circumcision = gendhelenA small, sharp thing embedded inside one’s skin = susuben/ ketlusupen
  • Spending a lot of time doing nothing = mbathang
  • Feeling uncomfortable because there is something that smells bad = kambon
  • Things getting out from a container accidentally because of gravity = mbrojol
  • Get hit by finger into the eyes = kecolok
  • Wrong sleep (head) position making the veins become neck pain = tengeng
  • Get farting from someone = kentutan
  • Do not have brain in the head = pekok/ kenthir
  • Get hit by thing collapsing on top of one’s head/ body = kambrukan/ kebrukan
  • Drinking straight from the bottle without using glass, where whole bottle tip gets into the mouth = ngokop
  • Cannot open eyes because something is shining very bright = blereng
  • Cannot hold bowel movement = ngebrok
  • Something coming out from one’s rear end little by little = keceret/ kecirit
  • Hanging on tightly to something in order to be inert = gondhelan
  • Falling/ tripping accidentally because of a hole = kejeglong
  • Doing something without thinking about the consequences = cenanangan
  • Being overly active carelessly = pecicilan/petakilan
  • Releasing “wind” from the body thru a coin drawn across the skin’s surface = kerokan
  • Finding by accident something good or useful without looking for it = ndilalah
  • Feeling unwell because of cold temperature = katisen
  • Making too much noise, disturbing other people’s sleep = mbribeni
  • Tripping over accidentally caused by wires, cloths, gowns etc. = kesrimpet
  • Being alone (or with a companion) in the corner of a place/ room doing something suspicious = mojok
  • Pretend to be poor/ no money = ngere
  • Feeling dirty/afraid of something = nggilani
  • Pretend to be homeless, no money and never take shower = nggembel
  • Expression or gesture due to a sudden appearance (of something) = ujug – ujug
  • Water come out from your mouth = ngecess/ngiler
  • A lot of water come out from your skin = gembrobyos
  • Doing something with your finger = utek – utek
  • Have something between your teeth = selilitan
  • Accidentally poke your eyes = keculek
  • Hot pyroclastic cloud that came out from a volcano = wedhus gembel
  • Laughing Out Loud = ngakak

        Itulah sedikit kata – kata dari Bahasa Jawa yang lebih ringkas dari pada Bahasa Inggris. Tentu bagi para pembaca yang mengerti Bahasa Jawa Insya Allah akan tersenyum atau mesem – mesem, tapi bagi para pembaca yang tidak mengerti Bahasa Jawa bisa bertanya.
